The research of the Department of Reproduction and Developmental Biology is focussed following topics:
1. Investigation of plants grown in radio-contaminated Chernobyl area
The aim of this resarch is to investigate molecular mechanisms of plants adapting toward radioactive Chernobyl environment. For this purpose, experimental fields were established in non-radioactive and radio-contaminated Chernobyl area.  Since 2007, soybean and flax are grown in these experimental fields and seeds are analyzed using proteomics and genomics approaches on yearly basis. For more information, please visit

2. Investigation of wheat alergens
This research is focussed on characterization of wheat allergens using gel-based ona gel-free proteomics approaches. Within this aim, proteomics methods for the determination of levels of clinically relevent proteins are tested.

3. Investigation of molecular processes behind somatic embryogenesis using proteomic methods
Our research is focused to analysis of changes, which occur during somatic embryogenesis in Pinus nigra at protein level using gel-based methods (2-dimensional electrophoresis).

2-DE gels of proteins isolated from mature seeds from flax plants cultivated on control and contaminated fields in Chernobyl area
